FEB 29th SYNDROME

This post is just a personal feeling post and probably will do no good to any of you nor to this blog itself

I just realized that today is February 29th, a day that we only have a chance to experience once in four years

Basically that's the only very special thing about today, others are just as usual, in a fun way :)

But then i kinda get emotional, thinking about "celebrating" things that we rarely have, just as this February 29th

And i looked back few previous pages of my 2012, i've been blessed, in a way i couldn't ask for more

Surrounded by a nice environment is a big way to have a happy life, and here i'm enjoying my moment

Together with these pearls from my @LOOKBOOKJakarta crew who have been driven nuts these past months, trying to deliver the big event we planned since last year -____-

Anyway, i just want to make a simple post about us during this rare date and time

Another random Saturday. No one is home so i decided to skip Indonesia Fashion Week and not meeting my beloved Michelle Hendra, Anastasia Siantar and Arnold Teja there -____-

I'm just gonna stay home the whole day sending e-mails here and there, preparing for @LOOKBOOKJakarta 's next event and it's pretty much driving me nuts

Apart from those lame drama, i am currently running out of subject to write about, so let me just post this another work when i was still assisting forWinky Wijaya

I'm a proud friend, i'm so wiping my tears now, tissue please ! ! ! *LOL*

CLICHE 14th

Thanks to Valentine Day, February has always been identified with chocolate, teddy bear, ballad, something pink, and all the sugary sweet things. These will certainly be a very lovely thing to celebrate *to those lovebirds out there*, but for someone who is single, unoccupied, and emotionally unstable (in other word: ME), these are not fabulous at all. LOL

Owh, why start a post with something as cynical as that? So how's everybody's valentine's day?

Did you celebrate it? Did you not? Or you don't believe in valentine? Or perharps, you're just the kind of people like me? Well, i hope you're ot as pathetic as i am :)

To me, this year's February 14th was just another day to pass, but it was kinda nice to see so many people in love out there, and i got a chocolate from my bestmate plus spent the whole day working with my two bestmates, so yes, it wasn't that bad! :p Other than that, i passed it the ordinary way, dressing up, hittin' the road, working, and lit up some cigarettes, Urmmm...maybe just like this? teehee

I put an effort of putting a little pink in this outfit for valentine post. Cliche i know, but don't we love being cliche some times? I might look and dress up differently with major people, but inside, i think i'm just the same with that man in t-shirt, baggy jeans, and dunk sneakers. LOL

This post is probably not so cool anymore, cos some of you might probably have known what i'm about to post right now. Was invited by a blogger friend of mine, Diiiyn (Diana Caitilin) to have a fun photo session with her and Michelle Hendra. I have never done any kind of photo session with a blogger fellow before so i said "yes" instantly !
It was raining heavily that day that i got SOAKED badly on my way to the location. I intended to go by bus and i almost canceled it and ready to go home, but a minute later, all i know i was already inside a cab. Maybe it's because i really wanted to do it so bad. LOL

I have always admired how Michelle and Diiiyn always post beautiful photos of themselves, and to be joining this super fun time with them was actually flattering :)
I have to admit that i do look like crap in some of the photos, but here i am shamelessly presenting the photos to you

Well, honestly not only because of that, i kinda really want that super edgy apron actually

What an edgy cook i would be in that apron, even if my cooking is not as edgy as the apron. LOL

A DAY WITH DIGNITY

The quote i wrote above is an expression of an anger, dedicated to someone accusing things i most unlikely am

I respect and admire you as an artist, but you judged me way too much and it hurts

. God knows i am not the person who you think i am

Enough with the resentment i flew in the air, lets just move on to another DIGNITY

It was just another @LOOKBOOKJakarta 's working day, surveying venues for our next event

Trying out my new chamber shirt and short chinos i received from DIGNITY by Boki (@ivanvictorlukas), or you might recognize him as Cindy Karmoko's Mr.B :)

He gave me this shirt and chinos back when i worked with him for a photoshoot of a band called "LAST CHILD"

It was a totally great day working with Boki and the band, and it got much much much better after he gave me this "souvenirs" :p

DIGNITY CLOTH is actually a menwear for casual and sporty guys. If you're into t-shirts, hoodies, or trucker hats, you should check their stuffs HERE ! ! !

It was the first time i put them on together. I'm loving it and i ain't lie!

Mixed it with a grey cardigan with a stripes detail from MONDAY to SUNDAY to hide my curvy hips (which i bought from the voucher i received from winning the level one blogging competition :p), the classic brogue that i've been wearing quite a lot lately, plus letting my bangs down again ! teehee

i rolled up the chinos twice and when i sit it gets REALLY short and i know my thighs are big and i don't have the twinkie hairless legs. Yes, everybody stared but thank god at least they look sort of hairless here ! -_____-
If you're the kinda guy who like to play it safe, the you can always leave the chinos unrolled, guys ! :)

...And from fashion to food ...

Really miss having ice podeng so i paid my revenge (picture above) and afterward me and my two friends from LOOKBOOK Jakarta, @YudhieRamadhan and @Salviarzharael took another culinary session for sushi, sashimi and its other kinds :p *gulp*

the dessert is a must-try. strawberry ice cream covered with smooth vanilla chocolate.

So apparently, stand up for your DIGNITY with another DIGNITY is a recommended thing to do every single time :)

JUICY CELEBRATION

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR ! ! !

I'm wishing you who celebrate CNY a healthy, happy, and lucky year to go through

It's really nice to have a long weekend from Friday to Monday, right? I bet everyone has been busy shopping and dining for today

Chinese New Year has always been celebrated with a big feast, family gathering, and of course, ang pao!

As someone who doesn't celebrate CNY, i never get those ang pao for sure ! *LOL* but at least, i get an invitation from OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE (@OutbackIN) for an awesome lunch feast with some of my blogger fellows

Such lovely menus were served to me and my other blogger fellows, Gricia Effendy , Michelle Hendra, and Arnold Teja. The four of us were probably having the BEST lunch ! Just as i wrote above, the steak is so juicy that every bite would lead you to another one and another one and another one! Simply said, you just can't stop easily !

I had my rib eye steak, and on the very first bite, deep inside i said silently

"dear Lord, thank you for creating those healthy cows!!!!!" LOL

I think i wrote it too much, the pictures will tell you all the JUICY DETAILS!

Been blogging for almost two years now, but as far as i remembered i barely write a review on something as cute as this, so please do pay attention ! :-p

BLOGGERS and COLD WAR

Spent the last Saturday returning some of the wardrobe i borrowed for my last work and met some of my lovely blogger fellows. Clara Devi, Marcella Caroline, Lalita Tian, and Diana Caitilin

It was really warm to met them all while having sushi and sashimi and this and that, and it is actually really funny how i get so close with Claire (Clara Devi) and Oline (Marcella Caroline) by being so cold and sarcastic to each other. We kept throwing hurting words but then laughed hard at it eventualy. I think Lita (Lalita) and Diiiyn (Diana) were kinda bugged and stressed to see us, and then the miss glisterandblister Michelle Koesnadi came and save the day and we finally behaved the right way :)

HANDGEMAAKT: ep. 01

Hello everyone!

This is my first post in 2012, so i'd like to say a late HAPPY NEW YEAR!

how's your NYE? Mine was like i wrote in the previous post, i didn't go anywhere because of the flu i had

And i was shock the very next day to hear such a loss of one Indonesian's talented designer, Adesagi Kierana, a man with a signature who passed away on January 1st 2012. RIP Adesagi Kierana, may you are now in a much more beautiful place and you will not be forgotton :')

I don't wanna start the first post with all sad things, so i think i'm going to change the subject and start 2012 with an outfit post of me wearing a friend's design

LOOKBOOK Jakarta, the community that me and a couple of my friends are building, has unexpectedly led me to many great new friends. Ever since the LOOKBOOK NIGHT, which was held as the first official gathering and the launching of our community, I have been introduced to talented people, including the designers who helped us by letting their creation be worn by us that evening. It was an honor for us to be presented on the runway, wearing Indonesia's upcoming designer's item, and it was a big honor to me personally, that i got to wear a very well-sewn shirt and trousers with a slice twist of batik as the perfect icing. The brand is called HANDGEMAAKT by Zico Halim

As much as i respect his work to preserves Indonesian culture into his designs, i'd like to share it here on my blog, so i asked him for a press release and the lookbook. Another unexpected thing happened when the designer, who has now turned into a good friend and co-worker *sometimes*, preferred to have the collection worn by me as the promotion material on my blog. Shortcutly after i said "yes", we hit a roof top and created my own HANDGEMAAKT lookbook. I wore five to six different looks, each was styled by me and Zico, and photographed by Zico himself

Lately i've been told a lot that i'm a blogger who have to post more outfit post to add fashion ambiance into my blog. Thanks to Zico and HANDGEMAAKT, now i have more stocks of outfit to post :)

REWIND then PLAY

It is now almost 11 pm in Jakarta. Just an hour away before new year

Most people are probably outside, together with their friends and family, carrying cameras and silver trumpets, eating snacks or grilling corns. I can hear the vibe strongly right now, people are excited, children are laughing, lighting fireworks and blowing horns

Steps away from there, i am here sitting in my bed, letting the year be changing without any kind of noisy celebration. Not that i intend to do so, but thanks to this flu, i skipped a BBQ session with my friends...

I ended up looking at old photo album and there i found some old pictures, of me, of my mom and dad, and siblings. Stupidly, the NYE has turned out to be such a contemplation and i got a little bit emotional at the moment. To me, NYE has never felt this quiet. Here i was trying to reminisce things that happened the whole year, yet ended up reminiscing the last 24 years of my life

I miss those times when i was laughing without having to worry about work

I miss those times me and my siblings when we were just a bunch of kids

I don't really talk to them and i wish i could have turned back the time just to change few things

And i miss those times where i still could shamelessly cry to my mom everytime something's bugging me

I miss these...

Human meets other human

It is the start of every single communication and relation

People could get along, people could then like each other, then hopelessly fall in love then desperately broken hearted or ultimately committed suicide

People could also get along, then work together, then have problems, the finally decided not to work together anymore

It's an absolute cycle every human would experience during life

There must be those time we can't get along, but then again, lets remember things that we have created together when we still cooperated and well behaved to each other
I guess that won't hurt that much, aight? Or maybe that's just some subjective thoughts when i look at these photos that i worked on by the time i still worked a couple months ago
It is probably one of a VERY few high fashion photoshoot i have ever done (yes, VERY few) :p
But yes, i'm still grateful for the opportunity :)

It is now 4 days before christmas and the holiday spirit is in the air, mixed with the oxygen we constantly breathe. I might not celebrate christmas, but i always do enjoy this season, and the carols as well :)

Other than that, December is a contemplation month, the time to regret things what we should've done and to vow we will try harder the year after

I, just like everybody else, have things i regret for and of course things i'm grateful for

Some of you might recall one post i wrote back on August that i finally got a job and how grateful i was. To cut the chase, let me just tell you that i quit. Super fast, i know, but i have my own personal reasons and i stood by my choice. It was sad, to be apart from some great people i have befriended with, but i'm happy, i can't even be happier actually. I am sure life will offer me better things to experience

Just like this several non-stop-series-of-luck that i had just after i quit my job during this December

It was supposed to be Reza Bustami, the fashion stylist of CLARA Magazine, but he went home already and then they mentioned my name ! Thank you Reza for coming home early that evening. LOL. I guess i need these shopping voucher more than you do :p. Yes, it is SHOPPING VOUCHER. Such a perfect chocolate icing on the cake!!!

So maybe quitting your job is not always a bad and sad thing to do after all :p

The name and location are totally fiction and a joke, yet the quote is not. It was MAGNUM ice cream who stated the mighty sentence, and in fact, i kinda believe the same way

As a humanbeing, pleasure is something we always seek naturally

The definition of pleasure can be really vary and subjective. Some people find pleasure in emotional balance, some other find it from beautiful things. My pleasure could be different with yours, but we all must agree that pleasure creates happiness and pleasure is exactly what MAGNUM was trying to create during their event a couple weeks ago which was named "Magnum Pleasure 365, The Ultimate Chocolate Experience"

As sweet as it tastes, Magnum invited me and a couple of blogger friends to attend the opening evening which showed a mini showcase from our 5 stellar designers, whom each of them created an outfit made from chocolate

Here are those amazing chocolate "couture" by our local designers and chocolate-coated by Andy Van den Broeck, an international chocolatier. Prepare some tissues ! ! :)

Beside an almost non-stop drooling moment, I also really had a "catch-a-breathe" kinda moment whenever these models were out from backstage. My friend Adelle Veronica was in total excitement to see Tex Saverio, both creation and person, but my personal favorite of that night would be Stella Rissa's dress! I think it's really chic, modern, young, and in some way, still look wearable :) Love it ! ! !

Owh, and these next photos are just some lovely details from their installations, you-choose-your-own-topping-magnum-booth, and urmmm... some living proof of me and my friends shameless narcissism (Yes, trust me i'm NOT alone) >.<

TALKING FICTION

To be involved in a project of someone i truly admire is an opportunity i always seek in life. So is this project called 'TALKING FICTION', a new collection from ONLY I, the independent and i-don't-follow-the-trend-label of CINDY DIAMONDHURTS. I have been an open admirer since the first met, and i'm so happy to be friends with her, and even happier now that i could share a tiny bit of my thoughts and work into her project.

What i love the most from this project is the concept and the storyboard of the photoshoot. The story tales a fictionized story about three sisters from a certain dimension who are punished by the queen because they stole three of her most precious necklaces. They then mutated to earth today and then adapt themselves with the life on earth. The element, the motions, and the wardrobe of course ! :)

And as these three sisters came home to their mass and space, i hope the fiction of this tale is not over and shall continue to our reality

TASTE OF LIFE

When we talk about life, we often stumbled upon the phrase "how bittersweet it has been to us". It is obviously undeniable that life produces juices we can't avoid to drink. Some are painful. Other says it's bitter like a veggie juice. Some other are teribly sweet and lovely that it left us in butterflies and diabetes *LOL*, but to me that's not all. Life is not always about bitter or sweet. It offers everything we could taste, either it's vapid like raw fruits, spicy like chilly , salty like salt and of course SOUR like vitamin C. Sour that makes you blink your eyes until your wrinkles appear and then it gives you a goosebump *I bet you all had this kind of experience, aight* is fun! Just as fun as this blogger lunch i had recently which was held by another fun sourness, VITACIMIN, one of the most well-known vitamin C tablet here in Indonesia since i was a kid. We had delicious lunch at Tawan, fX Jakarta, talking to each other about several issues, games, doorprizes, and last but not least, a dose of vitamin C from vitacimin (^o^)
They're about to make some new strike to hit the youngsters market. Sounds exciting! lets look forward to it ! ! !

I had so much fun meeting my blogger fellow, Bethany Putri, Gricia Effendi, Arnold Tedja, Luthfi Darwis, Anastasia Siantar, and Lalita Tian. It's been quite awhile since the last time we met and had our witty chit-chat! In this case, life tasted sweet-sour that day :)

Hangin' out with friends all in black? SUPER cool !

It was exactly what i did along with some of my blogger fellows, Chekka (Cuomova), Cindy (DIAMONDHURTS) and Sonia (Eryka). CLEAR Indonesia invited us to come to its latest event which was a part of a hip music event, Djakarta Warehouse 2011 ! !

BLACK AREA by CLEAR is an event, filled with a nice combination of futuristic STYLE ambience, with a BREAKTHROUGH digital concept and completed with spectacular MUSIC. The place was decorated mostly in black with a very cool and futuristic video-mapping at the front gate. It was really hot outside at the Djakarta Warehouse but thank the Lord the area was air con-ed. It doesn't stop right there, surprisingly there was a hair-washing station that (if you really feel like it), you can get your hair washed and done *i should have done that! :p*

BLACK AREA by CLEAR was held specifically to thank all of CLEAR user and to celebrate the success of the hair-shampoo brand ever since its relaunch back in the mid of 2011 which strengthen its position as one of the best and well-known anti-dandruff shampoo
Apart of such celebration, the event was also held to reveal who the next ambassador for CLEAR Indonesia is

People mentioned many names, but i didn't wanna hear nor believe anything until i see it with my own eyes. So there we were, all dressed up in black, witnessing Ello and Sherina (current CLEAR ambassador) hitting the stage and rocked it while we were sipping some juices and eating pies

The next information will only be dedicated to foreigners who are not familiar with her name or for locals who probably never watch TV *LOL*
Here in Indonesia, Agnes Monica is probably one of the most phenomenal names of the decade. Her carrier has been begun since she was a little girl when she started it as a singer
Agnes Monica was quite famous but still wasn't the biggest pop star when she was a kid. It was her transformation and her first "teenager" album that put her on the top list. She invented her own way of creating her image, visually and musically. Bold and controversial, but somehow, it works. She starred on many TV series, commercials, guest-starred on a Taiwan TV series, co-hosting for international event's red carpet, duet with a legend like Michael Bolton, and produced great-selling records. Her style is also one of her strongest points. Agnes does not follow the trend, she creates her own idealism world and now is famous for her own style. Her fanbase has been growing strongly since then, so are her haters probably, but one of the most inspiring thing from Agnes is her "ignorance". She knows what she wants in life, set the plans, locks the target and gives the best kick to hit the goals. If it fails, she would kick harder next time.

Owh, it was a bit turn off that we weren't allowed to bring camera inside so we decided to take some pictures before we got in. Everyone was busy with their cameras, but i decided to leave my pocket inside my bag and pirate all the pictures from my friends! LOL

A NIGHT of IDEALISM

Imela Kei is probably one of the names i mention a lot on my blog or twitter, not because the fact that we're friends and i worked for her a couple times, but simply just because i am an admirer of her and i want the world to know more about this amazing person. Also well-known as the lead vocalist of "ten2five", she is a struggling artist, a singer, a songwriter, a wife, and a lovely "mother" of her two dogs, Muffin and Choco.

Being in a non-label lane probably is the main reason why not many of us hear her strikes in the local music industry. However, she managed to live her dream by staying true to herself and her music. Only last Thursday, December 1st, same date as her birthday, she launched her first solo album entitled "WHITE LILIES", consists of 7 songs with 7 different artists and musicians. Not only celebrating her birthday and first "baby", Imela Kei was also raising funds dedicated to one AIDS foundation. She called it "fund raising with a musical twist experience"

Taking place at POSTE kitchen & bar, Imela Kei brought all the 7 artists, MIKE'S, AMANDA, ADITYA, MASSROMANTIC, NOTTURNO, DZEEK and THE TREES AND THE WILD, on stage and performed all the songs from the album plus another song from each of the guest stars. Boy, it was wild! She started from pop to RnB to jazz to blues, and it even goes crazier as the night went by. She sang 14 songs straight ahead with pitch perfection. EARGASM ! ! !

I have to admit that i am not a non-mainstream kinda guy when it comes to music, but i have my hats up and my hands down to this brilliant woman and i've been repeating her album eversince. Each track is distinct and powerful. "WHITE LILIES" is a proof of her honesty in music and a sound of her journey you should try to listen and feel

DAY ONE TWO THREE

Ladies, you should check this brand named 'The Story Of' out ! COOLNESS !!

this was actually my favorite booth layout of the event!

As you might have known, one of the most anticipated event in town, Brightspot Market, was just held from Thursday to Sunday. Fashion lovers all over Jakarta were undoubtedly excited. Brightspot Market is wellknown for bringing endless lines of great local based brand and always been the melting pot of severely fashionable crowd

Unfortunately, this time, they had a little problem with the aircons. When i was there at the opening night, it was terribly hot that i couldn't handle it. I was inside for only five minutes and almost soaked in sweat

Good thing that they finally worked on it. I was there again by the second day for a meeting with a couple of my friends from LOOKBOOK Jakarta and then again on the third day to attend Diana Rikasari's wedding which was held near the venue, and it was better. Still hot, but BETTER !

EYEGASM !
You might have heard that word lots of times. I myself use it quite often as well whenever i go blogwalking and find unbelievably inspiring pictures. Unfortunately, now that i think of it, the word has never been said towards me in my almost two years of blogging. This actually sounds ridiculous (-___-"), but i have to admit and realize that eyegasmic photos (almost) never appeared in my blog. Not that i don't see it as an important issue, but simply because i don't have the right camera yet...
These past two years i've been using my dad's pocket camera to blog. Not adequate enough but yeah, quite okay. I did wish for SLR cameras but i don't fancy those bulky SLRs that much either. Then i hardly crave micro 4/3 cameras like OLYMPUS PEN series or NEX series from SONY, yet they come at pricey tag, and i'm still dealing with my piggy bank to go there >.<
Stumbled on this stumbled on that, until yesterday i accidentally found a blogging competition to win a camera, LOMO camera. Dear Merlin's beard! It never came across my mind that LOMO cameras might be the drama i need, and whenever there is a chance to get it for free, i think i'm gonna jump in and get me soaked and wet!

THE FAMOUS ALMOST FAMOUS

I should have posted this review probably a month ago., back when me and my friends from LOOKBOOK Jakarta were coming to watch the fashion show from Ade Sagi, one of the most famous Indonesian designers

This collection is named "ALMOST FAMOUS", telling a story of how women play hard to be in the game Simply started with refine their outlook that will represents their personality by choosing the right head-to-toe treatment. This collection is full of playful, edgy yet beautiful asymmetrical pieces, which is the main uniqueness of the whole looks. Bold colors, patchwork patterns of texture, combined with fabrics like satin, lace, chiffon and tile ends up as a one step up of another drama in fashion. This loud pieces are definitely for those women who are not afraid of being in the spotlight and play the game !

Ade Sagi also invited some of Indonesian female celebrities as the models on the runway to open each sequence of the show. It was fresh ! ! !

RAINY DAYS

Born, raised, and live in a country that only has two seasons is a fate i can not choose, but having a dry season all year long is definitely unacceptable! -___-"

I sort of miss those rainy days. Do count off all the trouble of getting my suede shoes wet and stained plus the flood *knock on wood*, yet apart of that, rainy days do have something different, something so mysterious that it affects our internal emotion. Well, maybe it's a totally subjective point of view, blame on my way-too-strong melancholic side :p

So is this another "RAINY DAYS", the latest collection of PVOMO (@pvomo), a man brand by a friend of mine, Andhika Darmaphermana, who really gave me the chills since its first collection. ROAD to FURY

People often asked me why i decided to make a personal style or fashion blog. Actually i never did, my blog has never been a pure fashion blog, because i treat my blog simply as a personal journal, the open diary kind. It consists of my emotion turbulence travel with a touch of personal style. Same thing for this post, i'm just gonna write another uninspiring whining post

Where does fury come from? I believe the pattern is "faith-betrayal-disappointment-anger-fury", which is exactly the path where i am right now. Currently feel like i've been used, taken advantage of by someone i highly respected and have faith for. Disappointment is the dot i'm at. I only hope it's not going to the red alert 'cos once i go there, it is so hard to comeback...

I don't ever wanna do "i'm so sorry guys for being a bad blogger blah blah blah" but currently i really have no time to blog as i did. super cliche but sadly it's true

Many things have passed since a couple weeks ago. Drama, drama and drama, but lets just skip it for tonight

Before i go to bed, i just want to inform you that LOOKBOOK JAKARTA had an opportunity to contribute one styling for fashion installation by Dana Maulana #RatedA during the BEAT FEST 2011

BEAT FEST itself is a literally non-mainstream music concert (which i have to admit is not me >.<), completed by various installations from all the community of art and fashion under the Rated A. The fashion installation presented creations from plenty of Indonesian local designers which was mixed and matched by seven different guest stylists, including Ein Halid (NYLON Indonesia), Alex Siregar, DJ Onnie, Genu nerd, and a few more. Proudly saying that LOOKBOOK Jakarta is one of them (this time was represented by me, Amril Ardi and Yudhie Ramadhan)

Thank you Dana Maulana for giving us the opportunity to be involved.The theme was "LIBERACTION". Each of the contributor define the personal meaning of the word. To us (LBJ), LIBERACTION is freedom from fear to walk the talk and to actually create something so bold it invites controversy. The message were really there, shown by the magnificent local brands and how each of us styled it. I hope we really do will have more of liberty !

p.s: i didn't take pictures from other installation and didn't comeback for the music concert because i had things to attend, and my friends call me stupid. LOL

FASHIONABLY LATE

A few weeks ago, men definitely got what they deserve, and no it wasn't karma, girls. It was PLAZA INDONESIA MEN'S FASHION WEEK

It was surely exciting. The idea of a whole week with queues of men's clothing line? tickled me the most!

Actually i'm not sure if it's the first men's fashion week ever held or not here, but it was my first and i loved it

In the middle of my quite busy schedule as a newbie in the real world (read: a worker), i managed to runaway from craziness and came to a couple shows, hoping i would be inspired and be able to share it here

Stupidly, i didn't bring any camera. Wouldn't be much different if i did, because my pocket can never take great pictures from fashion show. So i waited for my friend who came with me that evening to send me the photos he took, but it's a useless wait. Luckily, i got help from other friends who kindly let me pirate their photos

Lets start from the JEAN PAUL GAULTIER show ! ! !

I don't think i'd make a review out of this show. High fashion is not in my expertise list. LOL. Overall, from my amateur pair of eyes, i think JPG has brought James Bond a step higher, including the full pattern pants that i bet is looking for a man with huge guts to buy and actually wear it. I'd love to see some of these unusual pieces in the next Bond movie >.<

First, i really love the theme and the dresscode. GEEK or FREAK.
Secondly, it was really something different and fresh to see lots of people dressing up, creating the look of nerds we might familiarly see from U.S high school year book. I didn't intend to come to the show that day, but i ended up working at Grand Indonesia that day, so i guess i'll spare the time and wait until the show begins. Thank god, a friend of mine lent me a round glasses to spice up my outfit! :)

Back on the LOOKBOOK night, beside showcasing creations from seven independent designers, there were also another brands that we showed. It was none other than SWANK by Salvi Arzharael

For now, I'd like to introduce more of this kinky line that somehow intrigued me

Salvi took a very interesting background story and inspiration for the SWANK's very first collection

Combining such contrast between the roughness of Russian military with a very delicate side from Russian ballet dancers, Salvi said that the theme is called "ZHERTVA" or "Victim"

As gloomy as its theme, this mini collection of SWANK is currently embracing dark, mysterious, with a twist of sado-masochist kind of nuance, straightly directed to people with strong, fearless and unexpected character

Pros and cons

I bet every single human in this world is familiar with the words

Everything, from the huge to the tiny bitty ones must have it's own pros and cons, including us. We're practically breathing with them, sleeping with them, living with them

For some people, being in their own skin is a difficult thing, even when they're not even trying to be bold

Having said that, it is a concern to me that in lots of cases *analyzed from my very own circle of friendship's tale*, it often causes negativity, leads to a degradation of one's self esteem, which is a fatal reaction from a quite simple case. Frankly speaking, i have the same problem, maybe you do too

It is somehow irritating when people judge us from one point of view without even knowing who we are, what we have and what we possibly can do. At some point, it get hurts just by thinking of how people against us

Time went by, and boy, i've grown up a little bit more and more. There are many things to learn along the way. There are many stones to stumble until we come to a place where we know who we are, we accept who we are, and then we love who we are. Those cons are still coming but without i even noticed, i handled it in a better way. More importantly, i've managed to do it in my own skin

This is the thing that i always try to implant to my brain

"Some people might not like us, but remember, there will ALWAYS be good people around us"

By the way, speaking of good people, this hectic week has been colorized with some ups and downs. Won't share the gloomy things cos they are simply uninspiring, but the happy thing about this week is i get a couple of surprises (from of course, good people around me) and i'm too excited to left them unshared here ! ! !

First, do you still remember what i wore on the runway of LOOKBOOK NIGHT? I wore an Indian Warbonet and a dreamcatcher from one of the independent brand who joined the Spot A Vendre, Ancient Greek by one of the sweetest couple i'd ever known, Winda Tantojo (@WindaTantojo) and Anwar Chad (@AnwarChad). Been loving their brand since the first met. I'm not a really bohemian kinda guy but there is always something catchy about dream catcher and Indian, right? And guess what, they sent me one of their dreamcatcher! I dunno where to put it. Wanted to wear it as a necklace but i'm afraid it's too big but then again it's too cool just to be hung, but then again...but then again...but then again...aaarrgghh!!!! Just check it yourselves, please!

And one more fierceness came from one of my favorite local jewelries line, EN GARDE ARTILERRIES! (@EnGardeARTLLRS) by Narya Abhimata. Me and Amril, my best mate have been fanning the masculine jewelries since the first debut and Mister Abhi kindly sent us this super fierce three-headed wolf ring to us, sent via the coolest messenger ever, Rama Dauhan from Danjyo Hiyoji during the LOOKBOOK NIGHT *double jaw-drop*! It is supposed to fit for three fingers but for me and Amril, we put all four fingers! LOL

what a high state of coolness ! ! !

Seriously, thank you so much Ancient Greek and En Garde Artilleries, out of all the blues that happened, you are a bit of fresh air! ! Please keep creating your magic! Stay sweet and fierce ! ! ! ! ! !

Finally, the first official event of LOOKBOOK JAKARTA is over

Held just last Thursday, September 29th 2011 at Canteen Plaza Indonesia, it was really a stressing yet lots of fun day. Lack of time and preparation always led us to a certain state of craziness, but we were happy to see that LOTS (the capital ain't there for nothing) of crowd were coming and met some very supportive friends and new people that we probably might have seen on screen or completely fresh

It was risky and overwhelming in some way but i'm thankful for what happened

On the other hand, despite of the hype vibe of the night that i truly felt, i do have to admit that the gig was far from perfection. For every misunderstanding, misconception or misinterpretation that you might have thought toward the whole show. LOOKBOOK Night could have been better, and surely will be better. We really hope that there will be more of this in the future and please still be a hype part of it!

Oh, God only knows how much i'm dying to write a post, but i guess i have to deal with the fact that i am not as free as i was before. Lets just go to the main bussiness, this post is the review of SPOT A VENDRE, which was being held back on Sat, Setember 10th. The event itself was a one day bazaar, with fashion bloggers, LOOKBOOK Jakarta community, and many indie brands

SPOT A VENDRE is actually held by some great friends of mine, including my best mate, so there is no reason not to jump a make a little help, literally little. (>.<). To me personally, that day was an absolute fun, because it's been awhile since i met my blogger fellows and i also met some of new really nice people who create cool brands. I was really broke at that time (well, up until now) that i didn't buy anything, but no worry, as soon as i get my pay check, i might order some necklaces i'd spotted >.<

SURREALIST WORLD

Hop Hop Hop ! ! !

It is now not even 10 a.m and i'm feeling a bit sleepy already, which is a surprising thing!!! Been living a nocturnal life for almost a year, then i suddenly have to wake up in the morning again for work

It is still my first week, and i'm still having a trouble to get up early. BIG TROUBLE *LOL*

So before i finally fall asleep hard like the cursed Aurora from The Sleeping Beauty, i better finish this post that i wanted to post weeks ago

This is another Behind The Scene from Imela Kei (@imela_kei)'s video shoot (this time featuring The Trees and The Wild) ! !

The song is called "WHITE LILIES", a not-very-light-but-brilliant ballad from her solo album, SE.LAN.TA

The video was directed by Dmaz Brodjonegoro (@curutsalto) and art directed by Lala Bohang (@lalabohang). Both are genius illustrator and an artsy fartsy double trouble ! !
I liked the concept that they created then fell in love with how they executed it with crazy illustrations and properties. It was like building a whole new universe, the surrealist kind
The video also featured two unbelievably talented children, Chika (9) and Ilham (7) whose skill in acting left my jaw opened *special standing O for them*

It was shot like three weeks ago, back in Ramaddhan, the fasting month. Such a long day with thirst and hunger but it was all worth the hardwork. Oh, i guess i just felt the euphoria of that day coming on me again. Next i just want to show and share the pictures i took during the day ! ! !

EXPERIMENTING SEPTEMBER

As i have written in a couple previous posts before, starting from September 5th i'll be saying goodbye to freelance work and start working full-time. Ever since i graduated last year, i've never done a full-time job, so i'm a bit nervous yet anxiously excited

Best thing from my job is probably that i don't have to wear uniform to work, not even a formal attire and that's a BIG YEAY!

So secretly (not a secret anymore) i've been pushing myself to have a "what to wear for work" plan and compromising some new twist

Purified. That's what they say about Iedl Fitri, a holy day for Moslem after one whole month of fasting, from food, drink, desire, and rage. Tough days, i must admit, and having God erased your sins right at this victory day sounds like a great deal to me. However, even if i'd managed not to break any of my fastings through the whole Ramddhan (today is the last day), I barely feel better nor purer

I even in a bit mood of being sarcastic during this holy day (God, if this is wrong, please forgive my clumsiness and my emotional fluctuation)

I 'm wishing everyone who celebrate Iedl Fitri a happy day filled with warmth and love with the whole family. It's time to FEAST ! ! ! !

THE RIGHT GIFT

To start this post, how about something exciting like "YESTERDAY WAS MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!"

Errrrrrrr, no?

Well, okay, maybe it was rather dull than exciting (LOL), but yes, i just turned 24 yesterday and today is the first 24th date in my 24 y.o age. I didn't have anything special this time. No celebration, no treat for my friends, no giveaway post, hmmmm, blame the number in my bank account. >.<

To speak the truth, I don't feel like i'm getting wiser nor smarter. All i know is i am still the same spoiled and naive (if not stupid) kid, and i even have to push myself to be aware that i'm no longer a kid anymore.

On the other hand, there are some quite nice things for this year's birthday

1. I gave myself probably the gift i should've given a year ago, a JOB. Yes, started from 5th, next month, i'm no longer doing freelance job. I'll be working as one of someone's assistant. I'm pretty sure that this person i'll be working for prefers not to be mentioned, but i think someday soon i'll mention the name eventually. LOL. Seems like it will be a hard job so we'll see how i'm gonna make it and i hope i still can manage my working and blogging time. Amen.

2. #shamelesspublication : Another feature. LOOKS Magazine 4th Anniversary ! ! ! Out today, and i got it already, thank you Elco Frebliaman, a very nice friend from LOOKS Magz who waited for hours just to gave me this magazine ! ! ! THANK YOU :)

LIFE OF PEDESTRIANS

Being a pedestrian in Jakarta, Indonesia, is not an easy thing. Sadly i have to admit, the pollution, the heat, sometimes the humidity, is not always bearable. Plus, the fact that fashion is not a major thing for most people here gives us (ones who dress up "a little bit" different) a hard time everytime we hit the road. The alienation gaze and sort of things like that is a daily menu. It is quite surprising to me that we actually DO need GUTS just to simply be a pedestrian. Here, to be bold in the malls, parties, or cars is quite ordinary, what's not is when you BRING it to the street !

By the way, i found this quite recently old pictures of mine. Taken from the photoshoot of a blogger fellow of mine, Bethanny Putri's clothing line, de.cada.dia. KOREAN WAVE

Korean attack! ! !
ANYOHASEO ! OPPA OPPA!!
*God, forgive me, i don't even know the spelling and what they mean* :p
God also knows that these past years, many of us have been embracing (if not obsessing) those Korean things
Started from the rotation of Asian TV series. From Japan to Taiwan and now Korea has significantly took the fame rank. Then followed by the music which influenced the birth of the boyband/girlband phenomenon in Indonesia, and of course, to the fashion that is now so trending everywhere, thanks to shopping online via facebook. Honestly, i have never been one of those people who's suffering the fever (except for the shopping online thingy, tee hee :p), but right now i'm just still in a euphoria of Korean wave !

Big "thanks" to Imela Kei (@imela_kei), the front woman of ten2five band who is now preparing to give birth to her first solo (and idealist project) solo album, whose one of her upcoming MV is carrying the Korean TV series ambience (she even pushed me to watch "Playful Kiss" as a material to learn the styling -___-"). The song, entitled "Semenjak Kita Putus" - Since We Broke Up - in my opinion is, by far, the lightest and catchiest song from her album, the kind of song that fans of ten2five -and every pop music lover- can really like easily

Overall, the video tells about Imel, an ordinary girl who is overly obsessed with her ex boyfriend whom she broke up with a year ago, so obsessed that everyone she sees seem to have the face of her ex ! LOL
I don't want to spoil the story line any further. Lets just enjoy it together when it's all done!

Directed by Peny Pujiati (@penypujiati) with her super co-workers and crew, this video is going to be a VERY entertaining one. Bright, dreamy, comical, sweet and romantic at the same time, just the type of Korean TV series people would easily fall for. I personally love the concept and the execution we did to bring the Korean vibe. Cute props, cute wardrobe, cute settings, cute models, cute stories, cute everything ! !

The video was shot back at July, 29th and 30th, but i am still living the butterflies

Good afternoon, malfunctioned people! So this is the first time i'm blogging in the afternoon while fasting this year

My hands might be touching all over this keyboard, but my mind is drown under the ocean of fresh fruit juices! LOL

Well, lets just get it over by writing and sharing a new story. Not exactly new cos you might have seen it on these two lovely ladies' blog, Clara Devi and Cindy Karmoko

A couple of previous post before, i wrote about having a little batik session with Cindy Karmoko and Evita Nuh at the Tik Shirt, Level One, Grand Indonesia (you can check the complete post here). After that fun batik lesson, i and Cindy then met this super vintage blogger from Yogyakarta, Clara Devi (i call her Claire)

We talked and laughed A LOT! ! ! It was very interesting because the three of us were carrying different kind of style. I mean, you know how Cindy mostly dressed up in big platform heels and red lips, then Claire with her vintage twist, and i'm only the preppy boy next door (>,<)

Cindy left us for church - God knows she's blessed :) - and there was only me, Claire, plus her two lovely girlfriends who kindly shot most of these pictures. Claire brought that big bag along because she's heading to airport and flew to Hongkong *nailbite*

To close this post i'd like to share that there were two big lessons i learned that day

1. Preserve our very own heritage so other countries will not claim them *this is related to the batik post*

2. Never judge a book by its cover, or in this case, do not judge a blogger by the blog! LOL. I wrote this because before i met Claire, i thought she was a very lady-like girl who happens to believe in vintage fashion in her blood. Turned out that she is NOT! Well, yes she does have the vintage blood, but lady-like? NO! She is so hilarious, harsh-mouthed sometimes and full with attitude, but frankly, LOADS of fun. Please do forgive me Claire for spreading this issue, but i know Cindy is behind my back ! *right, Cindy?* :p

Hey, it is the last day before Ramadhan (fasting month) for moslems, so i just thought that i had to post anything today in the afternoon while i still can having a snack and cold drinks and blogging :)

By the way, anybody is familiar already with THE BLANC NOTES ?

It is a fashion blog focuses on Indonesia's serious street style photography that's been running since June

A couple week ago, just the time i found their blog and put a comment or two, i received an e-mail, saying that they would like to interview me and post it to their blog

I was like "wow, sure! what a nice coincidence, i just found ur blog :p"

It is always exciting and flattering knowing that there are few people who are interested in this malfunctioned personal blog of mine. LOL

And yesterday, i just had their latest e-mail, saying that the interview is done and posted!

STYLE MALFUNCTION 02: New Friend

This one is gonna be an interesting post to me personally. You malfunctioned people who frequently or accidentally stumbled upon my blog might be aware how monochromatic i am. I've never been a good friends with colors these past three years, I mostly go with black, gray, brown, beige, then black again. It's not that i anti-color, i just don't feel like color is my thing, in other word, it just doesn't look good on me...Until a couple days ago, i did a lot of blogwalking and saw many amazing-looking bloggers in colors, including my local blogger fellows, Sonia Eryka, whose one of her latest posts was showing her new RIOTOUS collection, all in colors

Here were my toughts

1. Well, Sonia is probably the kind of girl who would kill anything that she wears, so any colors or look would be gorgeous on her *hats off*

2. Hey, it won't hurt to just TRY! *grin*

So, i decided to "play barbie (ken)" some time after and found two similar blazers in my closets that i purchased a year or so ago, one in blue and one in purple! Only wore the blue one once to the Body&Soul party *i'm sorry i don't post the review cos i look like crap in ALL the pictures, you who wanna laugh at it might be able to find it in Cindy Karmoko's or Michelle Hendra's blog :(* and the purple one is still a holy virgin!!!

Cut to the chase, this is NOT a color block look. No guts yet, but i tried my best >.<

This is my second style malfunction post in TWO YEARS!!! Maybe i should do better than right now, yea?

TIK TIK TIK: big lesson

Many ones said that most Indonesian youth spend their time and interest to foreign culture more than their own heritage. When i heard such statement, i couldn't say that it was wrong, because it simply is not, and to think deeper about it, it is kinda sad, isn't it?

Lately, we (Indonesia) have been having some of our very own traditional art and legacy being claimed by other countries, and it intrigued a very sensitive issues between the countries themselves, and of course, the people. We are angry, most cursed those countries via anything, from facebook status update, twitter, to a big demonstration, but did we do anything that is truly necessary? we should preserve and protect them by understanding them a little bit deeper

Such mission is carried by many designers and stores, one of them is TIKshirt, a brand by Iwet Ramadhan that try to bring traditional batik in a more modern and youthful way, located at Level One, Grand Indonesia. Started from an idealist project, TIKshirt has just reached its first anniversary, and to celebrate such occasion, TIKshirt held a very lovely event, colaborating with "Mbatik Yuuk" community, they invited some Indonesian urban youngsters (including me, perharps? >.<) to embrace a little of one of Indonesia's best creation, batik. They taught us to do batik on a hankerchief, and let me tell you people, it was VERY VERY VERY difficult ! ! ! I've seen it a lot on TV and i never tought that it's that hard

i bring along a very fierce friend that day, Cindy Karmoko! LOL

and appearantly she's (Cindy Karmoko) is an expertise! pissed me off to see how good she was! -___-"

The first time i saw these stuffs from her blog, i was like "WICKED!!!"

It's an amazing collaboration of three women. Imela Kei, Penny the photographer and Marina Sitohang the MUA

Imel referred these works as a tribute to Rick Genest, who is also well-known as the Zombie Boy that you might have seen in "Born This Way" video by Lady Gaga or Mugler's campaign

Hello malfunctioned people ! ! ! It's been quite awhile, eh?

How have you been ? hope it's been great for everyone of you
Me ? I've been actually running out of material to blog for ! but not anymore because i'd like to share something that is personally exciting \(^o^)/

Probably like two or three weeks ago, me and my bestmate worked on another styling project for SONY Music Indonesia

This time is for a photoshoot session of a singer named TASYA who used to be a famous kid pop star in Indonesia with her song "Anak Gembala" (Sheperd girl - i'm not quite sure of my translation skill anyway >.<), but I'm sure all the Indonesian reader must be familiar with her and her songs

She's been diving the entertainment world since she was 4 y.o and now that she's 18, she'd like to make a comeback with her fresh teenager image

Her manager said that they still want Tasya to look fresh like 15 y.o teenager instead of breaking the market with adult kind of image, so we were working on LOTS of candy colors which actually fits her perfectly !

Blogger Yard Sale has been held for seven times until today (and maybe still counting)

Maybe you know that i only joined the 3rd and the 4th part, but been currently paying regular visit, not to actually shop, but just to meet my lovely blogger fellows

And so i did pay another visit. This time was unintentional because i had to return Cindy DIAMONDHURTS' floppy hat that i borrowed few times before

BYS is still held for two days, back in May 27th and 28th 2011, still in MAZEE fX

Just to speak my mind and no offense to anyone, BYS is getting a little urrrmmm...errrr...monotonous (is this word appropriate enough? :p)

This time there were also Delirium by Jonathan Mulia, Lenny Agustin, and several other brands. I have no idea whether they were bloggers as well or not, which means i'm not sure either how to react about it...

But overall, it was still fun to met the bloggers :)

FAVORITE MISTAKE

Shortly, SE.LAN.TA is the title of Imela Kei's (@imela_kei) first upcoming solo album since she's been devoting herself to ten2five, Indonesia's local band. "My Favorite Mistake" is her first single featuring DZEEK (@dzeeknow)
The song is about someone who's addicted to her most guilty pleasure, a denial, probably a sin which she calls "my favorite mistake"
Proud to say that I've got a chance to be involved in a video, and we just finished the second session last Thursday, May 26th 2011

Unlike the first session when Imel had to take shots with the boys from DZEEK, the last session was just Imel and the male model. It was actually much easier because there were much less outfit \(^o^)/
I really loved it and couldn't wait to post it here! Now that i have a little spare time so lets spread this "favorite mistake" virus!!!!!

First location was the bedroom scene, Anton, the model, was wearing white v-neck t shirt and boxers while Imel was wearing lacey tanktop, short white pants and a see-through leopard pattern outerwear that i received from Cindy DIAMONDHURTS

Second location was at the Black Studio, very private. It was only Imel and piano. She was wearing a simple black tubesuit/harem-pants that you can actually wear with flops, but to stylen it up we added a bold necklace made from bells and big belt. We actually wanted to give a dramatic accent by adding long hard tulle to give a "tail" sillouetthe but the plan was changed so we put the tulle to cover the piano's top

ME(N) ON THE STREET

Ever since 2011, one of the most leading Men's fashion magazines in Indonesia, Men's Folio Indonesia came up with a fresh rubric on its last page that is called "Men On The Street"

MOS, as it stands for, always shows the picture of three different men with each of their own style that is taken on the street. The idea of the article is actually appreciating those men who are brave enough to look bold and bring their signature style outside the door house

Not only get to see your face (plus your style statement) in the magazine, Men's Folio Indonesia will also give you L'Occitane product (unfortunately you have to get them by coming directly to their office, which is not a really perfect icing on the cake >.<")

But anyway, a cake is still a cake, and this time the cake is mine!!!

Well, actually it's mine and the other two guys' cake as well. Teehee.

I present you "Me(n) On The Street"!!! \(^o^)/

First of all, i was a bit intimidated since two lovely guys beside me are wearing designers item like Hermes and Loubotin, but i'm proud to say that i wear local products! navy blue trench coat by de.cada.dia, muscle tank by ni.ki.cio and bermuda shorts by SATCAS (shoes were bought at Blogger Yard Sale part 3 from Carl, Heidy Kalalo's boyfriend and the bag is my bestmate's belonging :p)

Second of all, i'm actually 23 going 24 and i have graduated from University, but i still thank Men's Folio Indonesia for adding a nice short comment for the look. This photo is actually taken from de.cada.dia photo shoot back in January. Now that i think of it, i guess there might be some more pictures from the shoot that i hope are presentable here...hmmm...lets just save that for the next post :) !!!

CHOCOLATE REVIVAL

What would be impossible in fashion ? NOTHING !

A chocolate for a dress ?? WHY NOT !?!

In fact, that is exactly what i'm about to open this post with!

Andreas Odang came up with a super collaboration with Magnum in the revival night of CLARA Magazine
Turning some delicious Belgium chocolate into luxurious cocktail dress

The dress was beautifully worn by Marissa Nasution, the brand ambassador of Magnum and i simply never thought that chocolate could go this far :)

Sipping up a super delicious drink made by Magnum ice cream and taking some finger food (too bad i didn't take any picture) while excitedly waiting for the show to begin. There are three designers that evening. Andreas Odang, Kle, and Tex Saverio!

It was actually an honor to be watching such avant-garde couture right in front of me, made by an Indonesian designer, i absolutely hail for Tex ! ! !
